Whether you think of interior design as an enjoyable hobby or a necessary evil that helps keep your home looking presentable, sometimes it can be tough to understand the industry lingo. After all, how often do you hear about Tertiary Colors, anyway? At Betahome, we aim for our content to be accessible to everyone – no college degree required. So, today, we’re going back to basics. Gear up for a little Design 101. In this post, we’ll tackle color theory basics that every design enthusiast should know. After you’ve read, make sure to store this link somewhere readily accessible. It’ll come in handy next time you’re not quite sure whether you’ve chosen the right paint color.

1. How To Use The Color Wheel

Like trigonometry, the color wheel is probably one of those things that you learned about as a young child and haven’t thought of since. However, to really understand color, you may have to dust off some of that knowledge.Simply put, the color wheel provides a visual representation of which colors blend nicely together. It removes all the guesswork, essentially. Most models are comprised of 12 colors. However, in theory, the color wheel could be expanded to include an infinite number of shades.Don’t worry if you haven’t memorized the color wheel just yet. There are tons of ways to access it digitally. Paletton is a website that will let you create your own color scheme from the comfort of your computer screen and ColorSchemer offers the same capabilities in an app that’s available for iphone.

2. What Are The Basic Colors

We bet some of you read the last paragraph and went, “12? How are there 12 colors in the color wheel? There are only 7 colors in the rainbow. “ True. But, trust us, there are, in fact, at least 12 shades on every color wheel. Here’s how things break down:

Primary Colors: Red, blue, and yellow. Cannot be made from mixing other colors.

Secondary Colors: Orange, Purple, and Green. Can be made by mixing the primary colors together.

Tertiary Colors: The six shades that can be made from mixing primary and secondary colors.

If you’re unsure of where to start when it comes to decorating a colorful interior, one of these 12 is often a good jumping off point. Pick one and it will help you narrow down your selections until you settle on the exact shade that you love.

3. Changing Colors With Neutrals:

Once you’ve selected a basic color, it’s easy to create many different versions within the same family. All you need to do is combine that color with a neutral in order to make it lighter or darker. In interior design parlance, this is known as tint, shade, and tone.

Tint: The act of lighting a color by adding white to it.

Shade: The act of darkening a color by adding black.

Tone: Slightly darkening a color by adding gray.

Many artists recommend experimenting with color by mixing paints until you have a feel for how drastically neutrals will affect a color. However, if you don’t have access to art supplies, you can easily see an example of tinting and shading by going to your home improvement store and picking up a few of those sample color palettes.

4. Understanding Color Temperature

You may have heard colors described as having a temperature. A dining room may be decked out in warm tones while your friend may have chosen a cool color to finish off her bedroom. These temperatures also describe where the color falls on the color wheel.Reds, oranges, and yellows are often described as warm colors. They are typically more vibrant and seem to bring a sense of liveliness and intimacy to a space. In contrast, blues purples, and most greens are the cool colors. They can be used to calm down a room and bring a relaxed feel. When choosing color temperature for a space, you should also consider the size. Using a warm color in a tight room could make things feel a little claustrophobic. However, using cool colors in a spacious room could leave things feeling stark.

5. Complementary Color Scheme

When it comes to color schemes, complimentary is the simplest. It uses two colors that sit opposite each other on the color wheel. Typically one color acts as the dominant shade and the other as an accent. This means combinations like red and green, blue and orange, or yellow and purple. This color combo is extremely high contrast, which means that it’s best used in small doses and when you want to draw attention to a particular design element. You could use it to make your powder room pop or to bring extra vibrancy to your home office. If you choose a complimentary color scheme, you really need to embrace neutrals. They will provide a place for your eye to rest and keep you from becoming overwhelmed in the room.

6. Split-Complementary Color Scheme

If you like the idea of a complimentary color scheme, but are afraid it may be a little too bold for your tastes, split complimentary is a safer choice. To make this color scheme, you would first choose your base shade. Then, instead of choosing the color directly opposite of your base, you chose the two shades on either side of the opposite color. Those two shades will provide a much needed sense of balance to the room. You’ll still get the visual impact of bold color, but you’ll be able to incorporate more of it instead of relying heavily on neutrals to calm the space.Split-complimentary works best when you use your base color as the dominant. However, instead of choosing a saturated shade, try to focus on a color that is more muted. Then, go bold with your other two shades in the room’s accent pieces.

7. Analogous Color Scheme

The analogous color scheme refers to using three colors in a row on the color wheel. Typically, two colors will be either primary colors with the third shade being a mix of the two and a secondary color. For example, you could choose red, orange, and yellow or red, purple, and blue. The key to using this color scheme successfully is proportion. Again, the 60-30-10 Rule comes into play. You’ll want to choose one color to be the dominant shade, one to support the dominant, and the third, most vibrant color as an accent.Interestingly, you can also create a similar color scheme using neutrals. It’s typically referred to as a monochromatic color scheme. Simply choose black, white, and gray in lieu of brighter shades.

8. Triadic Color Scheme

Triadic color schemes, sometimes also referred to as a triad, refers to using three colors with equal space between them on the color wheel. The three primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) are a perfect example, as are the three secondary colors. This type of color arrangement is often extremely bold. Since the colors are in such high contrast and pure hues are often used, you’ll most often see this scheme in children’s bedrooms or playroom areas. When using colors that are this lively, it’s always important to consider the spaces that are nearby. You wouldn’t want to put two different triadic color schemes next to each other. That would be too busy. Instead, make sure that the rooms next to your triadic space are calmer and mostly neutral.

9. Tetradic Color Scheme

After the triadic scheme, things get a little more complicated. We’re moving on to balancing four colors in the space. The tetradic scheme, also sometimes referred to as a rectangle scheme because of the shape it makes on the color wheel, focuses on using two distinct pairs of complimentary colors. In this scheme, color temperature plays a very important role. Try to make sure that you choose two warm colors and two cool colors to fill the space rather than an odd number. Using an even amount of both will help bring balance to the space. It’s also important to vary how we view the colors. Look for patterns that fall within your color scheme and don’t hesitate to mix them among your solid pieces. If you use all solids, the room will seem overly saturated, but too many patterns will clash, so focus on choosing one or two to help break up the space.

10. Square color scheme

The square color scheme is very similar to rectangular in both number and name. It uses four shades, but instead of focusing on opposing pairs, the colors are evenly spaced throughout the color wheel. No matter which colors you choose, this scheme will be comprised of one primary, one secondary and two tertiary colors. Vary the intensity of the four colors by making two shades more neutral and two a little bolder.Again, similarly to the tetradic scheme, you’ll want to pay attention to achieving an equal number of warm and cool colors. But, rather than giving equal attention to both color pairs, you should pick one shade to dominate the space and use the other three as accents.

Sometimes interior design lingo can seem like its own language. No one could blame you if talking about furniture, layouts, and décor, makes your head spin. There are so many terms! In an effort to make design accessible to everyone, we’ve revisited some color theory basics. Use this as a guide before starting your next project and you’ll be able to navigate it like a pro.Did we miss any key color theory topics? You can use a suitable degreasing agent, however you should always wash down after with clean water.

Dry:

Ensure the background and surface is fully dry.

Sound/ solid:

Cut away any loose areas on the surface to ensure a stable base when affixing tiles.

Flat:

Ensure the surface is flat with no more than 3mm in variation over a 2 metre edge. On floors, the use of a levelling compound may be recommended.

Prime:

Depending on the adhesive, priming the surface might be required, always check before starting.

Waterproof: In wet areas the use of a waterproofing product is recommended, follow the manufacturer’s recommendation for application.

Make a tile staff

Finally, we need to make a tile staff, this length of timber will help you to gauge how your tiles will fall around obstacles such as windows and doors. Here’s how to make one:

Lay your length of timber on a flat surface

Place a tile on the length of timber flush with the timbers edge

Mark the timber at the end of the tile with a pencil

Ensure that the marks are square

Position a spacer at the edge of the tile and place a second tile against that, again mark the timber

Repeat this process until you reach the end of the timber

Cut off any excess timber

A tiling staff comes in handy when working around tricky areas with obstacles and corners to see where the cuts in your tiles will need to be.

TOP TIP:

Tiling isn’t forgiving, if it is done badly it wont look good. A wonky wall or uneven layout will be obvious and the very thought can be intimidating before you even start. As with any DIY job, preparation is key. A smooth surface is essential and if porous, should be sealed before tiling to ensure a firm bond. If the wall is in a very bad state, consider having a new skim plaster.

urn:store:1:blog:post:65https://betahome.ir/ir/how-to-lay-tilesStep by step Guide: How to Lay Tiles
How to lay wall and floor tiles

Once you’ve planned your layout and the starting point of the first tile, it’s time to fix them in place with tile adhesive.

Expert tip: Always ensure that the correct adhesive is used with the correct tile type/ size and surface. Check with our experts for advice on choosing the correct adhesive.

Affixing Floor Tiles

Plan your route and exit

Make sure you plan ahead so that you are able to lay each of the tiles and exit the room once you’re finished without stepping on any unset tiles.

If it is essential that you can still use the room during work then you can tile half the space at a time.

Mix your tile adhesive

Mix the correct tile adhesive in a mixing bucket as per the instructions on the bag.

Depending upon the location and background, a flexible water-resistant cement based adhesive might be used.

Start spreading the tile adhesive

Working from your set out lines and/or straight edge spread the adhesive evenly on the floor with a notched trowel.

Keep it even

Hold your trowel (minimum 8 - 10mm notched size) at a 45° angle and drag across the floor spreading evenly and ensuring that the notches are in the same direction.

Note: Only cover a small area at a time (approx 1 square metre) as the adhesive will begin to dry on the surface.

Place your tiles

Place the tile on the bed of adhesive, press down and twist a little to ensure the adhesive bonds with the tile securely.

Note: Larger tiles may require a thin layer of adhesive on the back of the tile as well

Check it with a spirit level

Put the spirit level on the tile both ways to ensure it is even and flat. Insert a tile spacer in between each tile to keep the spacing regular. Use levelling wedges and spacers for large tiles to prevent lipping.

Keep your work area clean

Wash down the surface of the tile and clean the joint as you go along.

Affixing Wall Tiles

Mix your tile adhesive

Mix the tile adhesive in a mixing bucket as per the instructions on the bag. Depending on the type/size of your tiles and the background, the use of ready-mix tile adhesive or cement based powder adhesive may be recommended.

Start spreading the adhesive

Starting from above the timber baton and centre line, start to spread the adhesive on the wall.

Keep it even

Hold your notched trowel (minimum 6mm notched size) at a 45° angle and drag it across the wall spreading evenly. Ensure that all notches are running in the same direction.

Expert tip: Only cover a small area at a time (approx 1 square metre) as the adhesive will begin to dry on the surface.

Place your tiles

Place the tile on the bed of adhesive, resting on top of the timber baton and set out lines.

Apply pressure bond the tile and adhesive

Once the tile is lined up, twist and slide it into place to ensure the adhesive sticks properly.

Insert a tile spacer

Insert a tile spacer in between each tile to ensure consistency.

Clean up as you go along

Wash down the surface and clean the joint as you go along to remove any excess adhesive.

** TOP TIP **

Thinking of tiling over existing tiles? Here’s a few things to bear in mind if you’re not removing the originals. If the current tiles are sound (i.e. they are fully secured to the wall and not loose or badly cracked), new tiles will adhere to them successfully. Remember that additional weight may be unsuitable for plasterboard, which supports a limit of 32kg per square metre when unskimmed. Small format, lightweight tiles should be perfectly fine, but check the combined weights before committing. Finally, be aware that the additional thickness might create detail problems around windows, doors, light fixtures and wherever there is a finished edge to the tiling.
urn:store:1:blog:post:64https://betahome.ir/ir/which-tool-to-cut-tilesChoosing the correct Tool to cut Tiles
Expert Tips on How to Cut Tiles

During your tiling project, you will come across the need to cut some tiles to size.

Whether you’re cutting tiles to fit around certain obstacles or whether you need trim them around the edge of your room, here are three tools you’ll need to master for different tiles and situations.

Important Note: Measure twice, cut once. Remember, you can’t ‘uncut’ a tile!

Using a Manual Tile Cutter

Best for: Straight cuts to your tiles.

Measure

Measure where the tile needs to be cut. To do this place a tile on the last full tile and mark with a pencil where the overlap is, this is where you need to cut.

Note: Make sure you leave enough room for the grout joint and movement joint on corners and perimeters. Movement joints must not be grouted, the use of sealant is recommended

Place the tile in the cutter

Place the tile in the manual tile cutter, square it up to the plate and get the cutter and pencil mark in line.

Score the tile

Press down firmly on the handle of the cutter and push forward across the tile to score a line.

Apply a bit of pressure

Press and apply pressure on both sides of the tile and it will snap into two pieces.

Note: some cutters will have an all-in-one breaker built in. Just put the clamp part on the tile and push down on the handle to snap the tile.

Check the edges

If the cut isn’t clean and the edges are slightly rough, use a file or rubbing stone to smooth the edges.

Use tile nippers to cut small pieces

For smaller or curved pieces use tile nippers to cut small pieces off to achieve the correct size or shape required.

With a Tile Scribe

Best for: Cutting thinner tiles

Measure

Measure where the tiles needs to be cut using a pencil and a metal ruler, draw a straight line across the tile.

Score the cut line

Hold the metal ruler along the line to ensure a straight cut. Holding at a 45° angle, use the tile scribe against the side of the ruler and cut across the glaze.

Break the tile cleanly

Use a long, thin object underneath the scored tile, such as a pencil and apply pressure to both ends of the tile. It should break cleanly into two pieces.

Check the edges

If the cut isn’t clean and the edges are slightly rough, use a file to smooth the edges.

With a Power Tool Cutter

Best for: Cutting right angles, curved edges and on thicker tiles such as porcelain and natural stone.

Setup the Electric Cutter

Firstly, make sure the electric cutter has water in the tray to prevent the blade from overheating, this will also help to reduce the dust produced whilst cutting.

Mark out lines for curved edges

When cutting curved edges, mark with a pencil the area which needs to be cut and mark several lines up to the curved marking. This is because you cannot turn the tile during the cutting process.

Cut into the lines

Use the electric cutter to cut each of the lines up to the point of the curved line, it should look like a comb when you’re finished.

Mark around the curve with a tile scribe

Draw around the curved mark with your tile scribe to score and cut into the glaze.

Nip away at the remaining unwanted area

Use your tile nipper to break away small pieces at a time, up to the curve and then file down until smooth.

urn:store:1:blog:post:61https://betahome.ir/ir/grouting-finishing-tilesGrouting & Finishing Tiles
How to grout tiles

Once the tiles have been laid and left to set, it’s time to start grouting! If this is done incorrectly, you are likely to crack the tile; but with the right tools and solutions, you can cut holes without causing any damage.

How to drill ceramic tiles:

You can use a steel, carbide or diamond drill bit to drill ceramic tiles. Start by marking the center of the hole, then cover the area with duct tape to prevent the drill from slipping.

Be sure to prepare a sprinkler or small container of water before you start. Spraying water both keeps the drill cool and prevents dust from spreading during drilling.

Continue drilling at low speed and medium pressure until you reach the back of the tile. High speed or high pressure may cause the tile to break. If desired, you can use a hand drill to do this. Drill slowly to avoid damaging the material behind the tile.

Making a hole in porcelain tiles:

Porcelain is denser and harder than ceramic, which makes perforating porcelain tiles a bigger challenge than ceramic. For this reason, you must use a diamond drill bit.

Like ceramic tiles, mark the center of the hole, then cover the area with duct tape and constantly spray cold water on the drill bit.

The easiest way to drill a porcelain tile is to use the "Line In" method - drill at an angle until the drill cuts the tile, at which point place the drill perpendicular to the tile. Start slowly and apply just enough force to make the drill work. As with ceramic tiles excessive pressure may break the tile.

How about if you need to make a large hole in your tile...

Sometimes you may have to make larger holes to install radiators and other pipes. To do this, you need a hole saw kit. Ensure the blade you choose fits your drill.

Place the appropriate blade for the hole size you require on your drill and slowly begin drilling. Hold the drill steady to prevent it from slipping on the tile surface. Slowly increase the speed until the drill penetrates the tile glaze, then continue again until the hole is complete.

urn:store:1:blog:post:57https://betahome.ir/ir/replace-damaged-grout-and-tilesHow to replace damaged grout and tiles
Care and maintenance of ceramic tiles

After finishing your tiling project, you should make sure that the tiles are taken care of and maintained.

5 ways to care for, maintain and clean your bathroom tiles

Immediately after installing the tiles, fill the gaps between the tiles with good quality grout.

To revitalise old tiles you can remove and replace cracked or discoloured grout to give a fresh finish.

For better cleaning, use alkaline detergent and warm water.

Do not use acidic cleaners or bleaches.

Replace damaged tiles...

Replacing damaged tiles

Sometimes you may have to replace damaged tiles. Don't worry, replacing them is relatively simple, just follow these simple steps:

Using a special spatula, remove the grout around the damaged tile. Be sure to do this slowly to prevent damage to any of the other tiles.

Make 5 holes in the tile, 4 holes in the 4 corners of each tile and 1 hole in the center. They can have a great impact on people's behavior and their effect is influential from a psychological point of view. Have you ever noticed that the menu of restaurants usually use orange or red colours? Or do you feel relaxed when you are in a room with blue walls? Or do you feel restless and confused after being exposed to yellow for a long time? Why do colours play an important role in the success of advertising? The answer to such questions goes back to the psychology of colours.

In this article, we will answer the following questions:

How many categories are colours divided into?

What is the correct way to combine colours?

What power do colours have?

What is the impact of each colour in interior spaces?

Where do these trends lead interior design?

Who decides on the latest colour trends?

What are the colour trends of 2020 and what is their impact on interior design?

Colour is the most effective way to convert and transfer energy in your life. From the colour of your clothes to the colour of the walls of your house, even in the field of beauty, make-up and photography, by combining colors and light, the desired mood can be induced. In addition to affecting health, colours each in turn have a special concept and meaning.

Types of colours

Colours are divided into three main categories: neutral colors, warm colors and cool colors. Recently we are considering another category between cold and warm, called mixed colors (cold / warm) (purple, lily, purple, etc.) that are both soothing and exciting.

Neutral colors: black, white, gray, beige, brown

Brown: Earthiness, firmness, firmness, reliability and sometimes reminiscent of human primordiality

Gray: The feeling of needlessness, the color of human existence in the modern perspective

Black: Power, authority, independence, negative personalities and sometimes sadness

White: Purity, power, peace, friendship, a sign of eternity and a positive personality

Neutral colours are colours that do not exist in the colour spectrum and are a combination of other colours and can have positive or negative effects. Often used as a base color. These colors have a significant effect on home decoration. The main feature of neutral colors is their high flexibility. They can be present next to all colours and create a pleasant and beautiful environment.

Black, for example, is a good choice to make the details of the work more visible. Some interior designers believe that every room in your home should use black as a background color to highlight other colors.

An example of a combination of neutral colours in interior design

Warm colors: Red, orange, yellow, grass green, purple

Yellow: Phenomenon and vision, happy and active, danger and warning

Red: Love, madness, excitement, good-hearted but selfish

Purple: Authority, power and monarchy (the colour of mystics and psychics)

Orange: Warmth, honesty, satisfaction and happiness

Pink: Calm, childish tenderness, loved by others

Mustard: Good-hearted and trustworthy

Warm colours stimulate the nervous system and intensify emotions. These colors are clearly visible and attract attention. If you want to create an exciting atmosphere, use yellow and orange colors. These colors are related to the appetite and cause your stomach to swell, that's why restaurants use more of these colors. If you have a diet and you calculate the calories of foods, you may not want to use these colours in your kitchen! You should be very careful in using these colours because yellow and orange colors reflect a lot of light and irritate the eyes, as a result they cause eye discomfort.

An example of a combination of warm colours in interior design

Cool colours: blue, purple, turquoise, bluish green, green

Green: Youth, nature, sanctity, healing power and healing

Light blue: Peace, tranquility

Dark blue: Power of order, honesty, perseverance

Turquoise: Mysterious and unpredictable

Purple: Selfish and bold

Cool colours are soft colours that have calming effects. If you want to be creative and help the brain synapses, use purple. By combining blue and purple, it balances the feeling of calm and motivation that encourages creativity.

Bright purple calms the environment and relieves tension. Using this colour in home and office space is great. If you are looking for a calm environment, use green or blue colours. These cool colours are soothing. It has been scientifically proven that the eyes focus directly on green with the retina, and this puts less pressure on the eye muscles. Blue reduces respiration rate and blood pressure so it is beneficial to use blue in busy rooms and rooms where you spend many hours as well as in the bedroom.

An example of a combination of cool colors in interior design.

Eaton colour wheel and how to combine colours correctly.

Johannes Eaton is one of the leading professors of chromatology. Eaton was born in 1888 in Thun, Switzerland.

Using the Eaton colour cycle is a surefire way to find colours that match our desired colour. This wheel has twelve colors in which three colors: red, yellow and blue are the main colours and the colours between them are known as secondary colors. Each colour in this cycle can be well combined with its side colours, which are the colours of its family, as well as the opposite colour, which is its complementary colour and creates a beautiful and harmonious result. The use of colours of the same family, which are placed next to each other in the colour cycle and are so-called neighbours, together they create a gentle and harmonious combination that easily guide the viewer from one to the other.

The colour wheel works by first combining two adjacent primary colors to form a sub-color. For example, red and yellow form the orange; yellow and blue form green; blue and red form the sub-colour purple. Then a main colour with its adjacent sub-colour creates the next sub-color, and this cycle continues by combining adjacent sub-colours. The human eye is an amazing organ and in the right light is able to recognize about ten million different colours. Most of the colours seen with the human eye are obtained by combining the three primary colours red, blue and yellow. The three primary colours are never combined.

Colour in architecture and interior decoration

Using a colour with a small amount of its complementary color, if done correctly and in the right sizes, creates a brilliant and impressive result. This adds to the charm of the chosen colour collection and prevents a colour from completely dominating the room.

Walls in soft and subtle colors, such as bone, are great for living, but creating contrast in them by choosing special colors in tiles, ceramics, home appliances, veneers and furnishings makes the space more invigorating. In order to make the right connection between our personality and the interior decoration of the house, we must get rid of the fear of being different from others, a problem that we deal with a lot today that overshadows many architectural and interior designs. In a black and white society, one cannot have colourful thinking and imagine a better tomorrow. Effective work with colour, above all, requires a sense of creativity. Obtaining a suitable colour combination that exactly matches the purpose and goal of the person is itself a kind of "creation". Such factors in choosing colours for buildings, interior decoration and space furniture, create different approaches in design.

Colour is one of the determinants of style and context through which we communicate with our surroundings, and more than any other independent factor, it can turn a dull and monotonous atmosphere into a refreshing place.

Changing the colour of the walls can have more dramatic results than changing the furniture or even the structure of a room. So far, many houses have been painted in beige and cream colours and tones, and the standard colour for new houses is Magnolia, but it must be considered how to use these colours in different social conditions.

Colour trends in interior design have evolved over time. Every year, big painting companies like Sherwin Williams and Pantone announce their colours of the year, and interior designers use these colours to create living spaces, beautiful kitchens, bathrooms and toilets.

The colour of the interior design of the year is strongly influenced by fashion trends. In fact, most interior design trends, including colours, materials, etc., rely on fashion trends inspired by the world's fashion capital, Milan.

Here we introduce the most attractive colour trends of 2020. Feel free to revitalize your home with them.

8 most popular colour trends of 2020

1. Champagne

Champagne is one of the biggest colour trends of 2020. If you think champagne is boring, you better think again. Champagne has replaced the cold grays that have dominated the world of interior design for years. This natural beige colour makes the room feel warmer than its gray counterpart. Champagne adds an earthy feel to the interior and creates a relaxing environment. If you want to add champagne to your room, it is better to combine this colour with bold textures and materials, or you can use gold, silver, wooden or metal accessories. A few combinations of this colour in the tiles of the Guell collection are shown in the image above to help guide you in using this beautiful color.

2. Navy Blue

As mentioned, blue is suitable for reception areas and creates a balanced office environment. Blue alone, in a variety of shades, creates a beautiful, calm and heavenly environment that is a great choice for bedrooms and bathrooms. Navy blue is a color that is very popular and growing. The Sherwin Williams colour of the year for 2020 is code Naval SW 6244 which is a dark and rich navy blue. This color is reminiscent of the night sky.

Dark blue in combination with champagne, gives any home a cozy and pleasant feeling. This colour creates a unique effect in the bathroom. You can choose it to create a stunning floor on the floor of your bathroom. This color is also suitable for playful children's rooms and helps to calm them down.

3. Golden yellow

Yellow; warm and sunny, bright, positive, captivating, joyful, hopeful, inspiring and used as a sign of welcome. A soft yellow color, such as gold in the dining room, stimulates the appetite. The colour of mustard is happy and fits the mood of children and teenagers. This colour strengthens memory and helps reading. It should be noted that its use alone causes unease, so it is better to use it in combination with other colours.

Yellow is optimistic and happy and enlivens any room, although overuse can create the opposite effect. Designers often use pale yellow for walls in the house. Gen-Z yellow was a popular color in 2019, but golden yellow has replaced it in 2020. This new colour trend 2020 will give freshness and vitality to interiors. This colour will look good in kindergartens, workplaces, bedrooms and living rooms.

4. Olive green

Green is a great choice for bedrooms and bathrooms because of its soothing properties. When green is used in combination with purple in silver it creates a beautiful effect. The use of green has a unique use for interior decoration due to its neutrality. Green is not used in skin and beauty salons and even in boutiques and clothing stores due to the lack of skin colour reflection. Green was a popular color trend during Milan Design Week 2019, and we will see more of it in 2020. In particular, olive green is in the spotlight. Light olive green can be used on kitchen or bathroom walls as well as exterior walls.

5. Light pink

Pink is very soft and delicate. This pale, delicate, gentle and soothing colour evokes emotion. Pairing pink with chocolate browns is very effective. Pink is often the favorite color of girls, maybe because they feel good about it and it instills a sense of intimacy in them. For this reason, it is mostly used in girls' bedrooms, but it is also suitable for guest rooms. The use of pink is not limited to childrens rooms, it can be used in throughout different rooms in your home.

Bright pink will be very popular in 2020. Benjamin Moore announced his colour of the year: First Light 2102-70, a refreshing and pleasant color of pink.

Light pink is a vibrant alternative to white or beige. It can be used in the living room, bedroom and even the kitchen. This coluor enlivens any space and combines well with other colours.

6. Dark red

Red symbolizes joy and happiness, luck, luxury and newness, love and affection. Red is an exciting colour and is a very important and common colour in Asian countries. Care should be taken when using red. It is preferable to use red sparsely as accents. In home decoration, it is better to use red color in special and favourite places so that this part is more prominent. The use of red around the fireplace, even if it is off, indicates the presence of heat. By using red, the environment becomes more intimate.

Red is not a good colour for the bedroom, as it increases respiration and reduces sleep and relaxation.

In commercial places, the use of red leather furniture in a completely white space with red pendants is attractive and encourages people to sit down. Red can also be used in salons. Dark and rich reds are not only offered for the fall season, they were very popular in the field of interior design in 2019, Sherwin Williams announced Cavern Clay as the colour of the year, and its various colour shades will continue to be popular throughout 2020.

Dark reds make a room feel comfortable and warm. You can use it as a complementary colour along with other colours or as a feature wall of your house. It can be easily combined with other colours with shades of red and black to create a beautiful atmosphere.

7. Charcoal

Charcoal is a great colour for interior designers as it is neutral and can be used with any other colours. If you want to reduce the amount of attention to something, you can make it matte black. Charcoal with metallic colours of gold, silver, copper and brass has a unique effect.

This colour is often used in joinery to create elegance. A bench with a charcoal granite surface can give a beautiful look to the kitchen. Charcoal is also a good choice of colour for the floor. Black and white in a chequered pattern is used in the form of tiles or mosaics on the bathroom floor, because it makes the space look bigger with the contrast it creates.

Using black alone is not suitable for wall paint, as it closes the environment and appears scary. Black is commonly used for light switches and door handles as a neutral color that makes objects and designs around them look good.

Dark colours have been trending for some time and will continue their trend in 2020. Charcoal is a very stylish and intimate color that can be used almost anywhere, such as: bedroom, kitchen, bathroom.

Charcoal can be used only on one wall or it can be the main colour of a room. This colour perfectly combines with other shades of gray and creates interest and visual depth in the space.

8. Mango

Mango colour screams fun, energetic and delicious! This attractive colour trend in 2020 has taken over the world of interior design. Like most bold colors, mango can be used as a complementary colour in living rooms or dining rooms. It can also be used in room decor furnishings (cushions, chairs). This colour makes the room brighter and slightly larger. Mango is a combination of yellow and orange that has inherited the positive characteristics of both. From orange, it has warmth, honesty and happiness, and from yellow it has beauty, creativity and energy.
urn:store:1:blog:post:53https://betahome.ir/ir/how-to-use-tile-spacersHow To Use Tile Spacers
If you’re considering embarking upon a new tiling project and have been reading around for tips before you start then you may have seen the term ‘Tile Spacers’ being bandied around.

What exactly are tile spacers and why do you need them?

Well, if you didn’t know already and want to learn more about what they are and how to use them then read on as we’re about to answers some common questions about these incredibly simple yet ingenious bits of tiling kit.

What Are Tile Spacers?

In fuller terms though, they’re small bits of cross or ‘T’ shaped plastic that are placed between tiles when installing them to ensure that the joints between them are of a consistent width. This allows for an even finish when it’s time to grout your tiles. Tile spacers come in different widths usually ranging from 2mm – 6mm and are constructed from a lightweight yet sturdy plastic.

How Do I Use Tile Spacers?

Once you’ve applied your adhesive and placed the tiles on top of it, simply place spacers at each corner of your tiles and then push the tiles together until the spacer is fully butted up against each corner of each tile. This will ensure an equal gap wherever the tiles meet. You can even do this ahead of even thinking about fixing your tiles with adhesive; using tile spacers when dry laying your tiles allows you to estimate the exact widths of grout joints and makes measuring and cutting tiles more straightforward.

How Many Tile Spacers Do I Need?

Tile spacers are relatively inexpensive but that’s not to say that you should bypass planning out the quantities you’re going to need (nobody likes wasting money, right?). Plus, if you fail to plan and underestimate the number that you require you could end up delaying your project should you have to pop out any buy more. Estimating the quantity of tile spacers for you project is easy – just take the number of tiles you’re using and multiply it by four! It’s always worth getting a little bit extra though to account for breakages and losing them amongst your tiling tools and materials.

When Should I Remove Tile Spacers?

This can prove to be quite a quandary for the inexperienced tiler – take the spacers out too soon and you risk the tiles slipping and a sub-par finish. Take them out too late and, well, you probably won’t be able to take them out at all as your adhesive will have set. As a general rule, most fast-setting adhesives will be fully cured in around 20-30 minutes, so you should aim to remove any spacers before that period has elapsed. Always check the adhesive manufacturers’ instructions before attempting to remove spacers though. Getting the things out is fairly simple – just flip the spacers out using a chisel or the end of a scaper, give them a rinse and you can use them again next time.

Can I Grout Over Tile Spacers?

This is a big no-no. Leaving tile spacers in situ and then grouting over them can cause you to end up with a substandard result, especially when tiling floors. It may be tempting to simply leave the spacers in place, especially if they don’t protrude above the edge of the tiles. However, whilst the finished job might look fine for a couple of weeks, grouting over spacers will compromise the structural integrity of the grout joint. Over time, you will begin to see small ‘+’ shaped cracks appearing over each embedded spacer as the thinness of the grout on top of the spacers will cause it to succumb to wear and tear where the grout is weaker.

Can I Use Tile Spacers With Tile Cuts?

Be very careful when using tile spacers on tiles that have been cut as if the cut isn’t 100% accurate you could end up throwing your whole tiling project off-kilter. Nobody wants wonky and disproportionately spaced grout joints so make sure that your cuts are as precise as they can be by using a high-quality tile cutter. If you’ve taken the time to plan your tile layout correctly however, cuts should be at the ends of the room or ends of the wall, meaning that they’re less noticeable and providing a more balanced look to the tiled area.

Can Tile Spacers Be Used With All Types of Tiles?

Yep. Tile spacers can be used with wall tiles, floor tiles, ceramic tiles, porcelain tiles, natural stone tiles – the lot. You might find it slightly more fiddly to use them with hexagonal tiles if the edges are not at right angles but there are tile spacers available that have legs that are set at different angles (they look a bit like old-school aeroplane propellers). Similarly, regular tile spacers might not do the trick if you’re installing 20mm thick outdoor slab tiles as the depth of the tiles means that the spacers kind of get lost. That said, there are many alternative ways to install outdoor slab tiles – check out our extensive guide to find out more.
urn:store:1:blog:post:51https://betahome.ir/ir/essential-tiling-tools-you-needEssential Tiling Tools You Need
Tiling can be a difficult and tedious job, but there are tools that will make it easier for you to do. All these tools are equally important, so we have put them in the order that you will use them.

1. Manual Tile Cutters

A manual tile cutter is a must when laying tile. It is lightweight, so you can take it with you wherever you go, and it is easy to use, making you more efficient at the job. Cutters make very clean and precise cuts, and they only take one hand to use.

When looking for a manual tile cutter, check that it has double guides that are wide enough apart for you to clearly see to score and cut your tile. You also want one that has different cutting measurements. You will need them for the vast assortment of size and tile types on the market.

2. Wet Tile Saw

Walls and floors come in all different shapes and sizes, which means that the same tile will fit into each one differently. The best way to get clean and precise cuts every time is to use a wet tile saw.

3. Diamond Saw Blades

Diamond saw blades are recommended because diamonds are harder than rock, making it easier to cut through the tile. Look for a blade that is made for wet cutting and cutting fine porcelain tiles.

4. Diamond Drill Bits

Just like the saw blades, you want diamond drill bits to drill into tile because they are the hardest. Look for a diamond bit that is made for wet cutting if you want to reduce the amount of dust when drilling.

5. Rubber Buckets

You need buckets to mix your mortar in. If you are mixing a big batch for a large area, you may want to pour some into a smaller bucket to take with you as you move around. Any bucket will work for this, but a rubber bucket is easier to clean than a plastic one, whether the mortar is wet or dry.

6. Tile Nippers

Tile nippers are also known as pincers or tile nibblers. They help make irregular cuts, like circular shapes, that a wet saw can’t cut.

7. Tile Mortar Mixer

It is important that mortar is mixed very well before you use it. Mixing helps release any air bubbles that are trapped in the mortar. No air means you get a stronger hold.

The best way to make sure that your mortar is mixed well is by using a tile mortar mixer. It is electric and has large paddles to churn through the thickness of the mortar. There are several different paddles, speeds, and motors available. Which one you use depends on your preference and the job.

8. Tile Trowel

There are two kinds of trowels that tile layers use.

Pointed

A pointed trowel is used to get the mortar out of your bucket and onto the tile and do the initial spreading out.

Square-Notched

The square-notched trowel is used once the mortar is spread out onto the brick. The notches ensure that you have the right amount of mortar on each tile.

Every job requires a different thinset (thickness of mortar). Know what the correct thinset is for the job you are doing, so you can make sure that you have the right size of the trowel. The notches give you the needed thinset, remove excess mortar, and help any trapped air to be pressed out when the tile is laid.

9. Chalk Line

A chalk line is an old-fashioned yet dependable way to make sure that you lay your tile in a straight line.

10. Level

When laying down a tile floor, it is especially important that all the tiles are at the same level to avoid tripping. You know they are even when you lay your level on the tiles and it is sitting evenly. If tiles are uneven, there will be a small gap showing you that one tile is higher than the other.

11. Rubber Mallet

The rubber mallet is used to gently tap tile into the correct place and the right height.

12. Rubber Grout Floats

A rubber grout float is a lot like a trowel. One side of it is a sturdy yet flexible piece of rubber used for spreading grout over tiles to cover the mortar. Rubber grout floats come in various sizes. Some are meant to get into those hard-to-reach places, while others allow you to spread the grout over a large area easily.

13. Grout Sponge

The grout sponge is a big, dense-celled sponge that is made to wipe up any lingering grout.

urn:store:1:blog:post:47https://betahome.ir/ir/what-is-rectified-tileWhat is 'rectified' tile?
Do you seek the ultimate in a tiled floor or wall? Where the grout gaps are so narrow it appears there is only one large uninterrupted seamless surface, absolutely level and flat?

Then you must treat yourself to rectified tiles!

What is a 'rectified' tile?

Rectified tiles are ceramic or porcelain tiles that have been precisely ground and machined to give them near-perfect straight edges and exact dimensions. These tiles provide a very clean, symmetrical look, and allow for extremely fine grout lines of 3mm or less.

These tiles are also known as 'dimensionally stable tiles' (which is a bigger mouthful and no more descriptive) - and are often referred to as 'sharp edge' tiles because they're quite sharp at the edge.

For reasons, it's unusual to find rectified tiles smaller than about 300mm x 300mm.

How are rectified tiles made?

They're called 'rectified' tiles because that's what the process actually does - it rectifies their sizes. Baking or firing a ceramic tile never gives an exact, predictable result. Even if the tiles go into the kiln looking exactly the same, the change in moisture through the firing process isn't something that can be precisely controlled, and tiles will slightly shrink and warp. When they come out of the kiln, ceramic and porcelain tiles will always vary slightly in terms of their shapes and sizes, which, when installed together on the same floor will lead to problems with the width of the grout joints. There can also be warpage of individual tiles themselves.

Rectified tiles are normally a bit bigger than they need to be when they're put in the kiln, to allow for them to be cut back to precisely the right size once they've been fired. The 'rectification' process involves either grinding or cutting the tiles with a diamond saw.

What's the appeal of rectified tiles?

Because they're very even and uniform, when you're using rectified tiles only the thinnest of grout lines is necessary (3mm or less). The appeal of a sleek, thin grout line's the main reason people choose these tiles. A 1.5mm grout line in particular can give an almost seamless look with the right coloured grout and tiles, and it's a fantastic effect when it's well done.

Because they're so carefully produced, rectified tiles can be used to create a very clean, even and symmetrical look..
urn:store:1:blog:post:49https://betahome.ir/ir/toilet-installation-guideToilet installation guide
Toilet installation guide

Whether you're installing a better-flushing toilet or resetting the old one after remodeling, these tips will help you do it faster and with fewer problems.

There are a few “tricks” that are important to the success of the job. If you are looking to purchase a new toilet, you'll need to know the "rough-in" measurement (the distance between the center of the flange around the drain opening and the wall behind it). Different styles of toilet vary in how far they sit away from the wall. You can select a toilet designed for a shorter rough-in measurement (you'll just have to add some supportive blocking between the back of the tank and the wall), but you can't install a fixture designed for a longer rough-in measurement without some complicated alterations to the drain line.

To remove an existing toilet, first shut off the water supply. If you’re lucky, you can simply close the “shut-off valve” located in the narrow water supply line (usually found at the lower left rear of the toilet bowl.) If you don't have a shut-off valve for the toilet, look for a valve on the supply line to the entire bathroom, or turn off the water at the meter. Flush the toilet to drain the tank, disconnect the water supply line, and use a sponge to remove any remaining water. Loosen and remove the two bolts that hold the tank to the bowl and carefully lift the tank free. (If the bolts won't turn, try lubricating them with WD-40™; if that doesn't work, you'll probably need to cut through them with a hacksaw blade.) Flush the water from the bowl by pouring into a bucket quickly, or mop out the water with rags.

Next, loosen and remove the nuts and washers on the bolts holding the toilet stool to the floor. These bolts are located on either side of the base (some are hidden under decorative caps). Loosen the gasket that seals the toilet to the drain line with a slight twisting motion, and then carefully lift the stool straight up, approximately 8 inches. (Hint: If you'll be removing the toilet from the house, slip a large garbage bag up and around the stool from underneath, to prevent slopping water on the floor as you carry it out.) Stuff a rag into the drain opening to prevent sewer gas from entering the house. Before installing a new toilet (or re-installing the old one), check the condition of the floor around the flange (the metal “collar” that inserts into the sewer drain).

Repair any areas that have been damaged by water leaks. The flange must be secured tightly to the floor to keep the toilet from moving. If you are replacing your toilet after putting in new bathroom flooring, check whether the new floor is thicker than before. If so, you may need a flange extension. The toilet is sealed to the floor by a wax ring that circles the horn (the area on the bottom of the toilet that protrudes into the drain opening.) This wax ring should be replaced with a new one whenever a toilet is taken up from the floor. Scrape all the old wax off the horn and the flange, and then take a new wax gasket, at room temperature, and press it in place around the horn. Remove the rag blocking the drain, and set the bowl in place (making sure the bolts are inserted into the mounting holes.) Gently push down with a twisting motion, until the outer edge of the toilet base is evenly in contact with the surrounding floor. Replace the washers and nuts on the bolts that extend through the flange and toilet mounting holes, and tighten them gradually, alternating from side to side. When they begin to feel snug, place your weight on the stool and tighten them again. (Don't overtighten, as the porcelain bowl may crack.)

If the bolts are new, cut off the excess with a hacksaw blade, and then replace the bolt caps. Replace the washers and bolts between the tank and bowl, and set the tank in place. (Use only brass tank bolts, as brass-plated steel bolts will eventually rust and crumble.) Tighten the nuts on the tank bolts carefully, just until they feel snug and the tank is level. Then, reconnect the water supply lines, open the valves, and check for any leaks at the base of the tank as it fills. Flush the toilet several times and check for leaks around the base of the stool.
urn:store:1:blog:post:44https://betahome.ir/ir/moroccan-style-tilesMoroccan Style Tiles
Moroccan Style Tiles

We are constantly looking for ways in which we can create a more uplifting living environment. Some are more effective in other areas than the other, but it is going to ultimately come down to user preference. The main goal when flushing the toilet is to get all of the waste down in one flush, without having to do a double flush! The second part is you want the jets to cleanse the toilet thoroughly. The third and final part is you want it to go down fast and regenerate in the same amount of time. So which flushing system should you choose? Below is a list of some of the more popular flushing systems available so that you can make an educated decision on which one fits your style.

1. Gravity Flush

Gravity flush systems use the water to make flushing pressure, which in turn forces everything from the tank and bowl through the trap way, completing the flush in a siphoning action that also cleans the bowl. Since there are no extra mechanics involved, this is one of the quietest flushing systems available, you can read quite flush toilet reviews here.

Expect little to no maintenance with a gravity flushing system due to the lack of extra moving parts and the natural flow of things. Considered the oldest technology on the list, this is also the most timeless mechanism in a toilet that was perfected on its debut and has been a favourite of consumers worldwide. There are few flaws in this system and it can be considered the preferred method of flushing for 2 and 1 tank systems.

2. Pressure Assisted

Pressure assisted toilets are a flushing system using pressurized air to force water into the bowl, toilets are less likely to get clogged since it is more powerful. It’s one of the noisier solutions, but with that extra noise, you get a lot of power. Rather than being passive like gravity flush, the more active pressure-assisted models can get down more waste faster and with more force. You can read strongest flushing toilet reviews here. Double flushes are not a problem with this flushing system, but it is not as popular as the gravity flush. This is more due to it being the newer technology, and not from actual performance. The main reason to consider a gravity flush over a pressure assisted flushing system is due to not liking the extra noise. In the early days of pressure-assisted systems there was also a problem with maintenance, but the later models have proved that point wrong.

3. Dual

Surprisingly the new kid on the block that is gaining popularity is the dual flush system, which leapfrogged pressure assisted flushing and is now close to closing the gap with gravity flush toilets. Dual flush toilets are great because they give the consumer the option to determine whether they want a partial flush or a full flush.

Partial flushes are great for liquid waste in the toilet and uses up to 1.1 gallons per flush, which is considered a water saving toilet. For solid waste, you can choose the 1.6 gallon per flush full button. It is a very sound system that offers a way for customers to save money and the environment without sacrificing power. You’ll get the best of both worlds and be able to manage your water bill at the same time. While the new system continues to gain popularity, it’ll be interesting to see where the more powerful but water-heavy pressure-assisted flush lands. Dual flush could potentially lap gravity flush and pressure-assisted flush toilets in sales if the pace keeps up.

4. Double Cyclone

This is a new technology from Toto toilets that is interesting, and one that they’re pushing heavily with their toilets. The double cyclone flushing system uses only 1.28 gallons per flush, but still has the power of a full 1.6 GPF. This may not seem like a lot, but you’ll definitely notice the difference in your water bill monthly. What makes this so unique is that it uses two nozzles instead of rim holes, and with the help of the propulsion system more water is directed to the siphon creating a more efficient flush. So no lost power, and it even uses some gravity flush methods in order to complete the process. It’s unclear where this proprietary flushing system fits in between dual flush and gravity flush toilets, but as a Toto toilet exclusive it is really helping their sales flourish.

urn:store:1:blog:post:9https://betahome.ir/ir/what-colour-grout-should-i-be-usingWhat colour grout should I be using?
What color grout should I be using?

More than an afterthought, the right grout contributes to your tile scheme by creating a cohesive, eye-catching unit.

“How do I choose grout color for tile?” It’s a question we hear a lot. The short answer: there are no rules. But there are a few guidelines that will help you make a choice that you won’t regret.

The color of your grout will significantly impact your overall design and is just as important in your decision-making process as choosing your tile color. Grout color affects everything from the overall style of your design to the daily maintenance requirements of your installation, so be sure to take your time when considering your grout color options.

What color grout is easiest to clean?

If cleaning is what you’re most concerned about, we always recommend going darker. Location is also something to consider. We’ve had both light and dark grout for our backsplashes, bathroom flooring, shower floor, and shower walls. The only place we ever had issues on discoloration was shower floors when it was a lighter grout.

Lighter grout will show stains more quickly, and although darker grout will make the grout stand out more the likelihood of getting stains is less.

So, if you’re also a perfectionist, you might want to go with a grout that matches your tile color. An all-white backsplash sure does make your kitchen look clean! But if you choose a lighter tile and don’t want to see one stain, you’ll have to choose your battle. A little bleach on lighter tile works magic too!

Should grout be lighter or darker than tile?

It comes down to preference and how much you want your tiles to blend or stand out. Typically, we match grout color with the tiles unless we’re looking for a bold contrast.

If you have lighter tiles and do a darker grout, it’s a fun focal point for a good conversation piece in your home. With lighter grout, it all blends in and the tile design is harder to view.

Style 1: Match your grout to your tile color

If you want your tile to be the center of attention, and not necessarily the pattern, we suggest matching your grout color to your tile color. This will prevent the eye from being distracted from the pattern found within the grout line. This style works well with neutral tile colors, especially white tile where you want the white to look fresh and clean. Keep in mind that a lighter grout color like white can potentially show more stains and will require more maintenance to keep it looking its best.

White Tile with White Grout

The ever-popular combo that may seem boring when we type it out, but in reality is a classic, timeless and gives any room a clean updated look. Among the most popular options in the white tile category, we have the subway tile. This has been the go-to tile for DIY home renovations for quite some time and for a good reason. It is classic, very affordable, and is something that will never go out of style. Conclusion – white grout makes the room feel bigger.

What Color Grout To Use with Gray Tile?

With gray tiles, we always recommend matching the grout with tiles.

Style 2: Choose a contrasting grout color

If you’re looking to make a statement with your tile and grout, choosing a grout that contrasts your tile color will do the trick. The contrast between your tile and your grout color will emphasize the overall pattern and layout of your tile, creating a graphic focal point in your space.

A dark grout joint is a great way to add contrast to a classic white subway tile. The contrasting grout warms up the white tile, preventing any sense of sterility while adding depth and dimension. Not to mention, a dark grout is easier to keep clean!

Black Tile with White Grout

It was huge in the ’90s and in the right modern space has always been classic, Now when you go with a black tile and a white grout you are going to see that visually (like with white tile and black grout) things start looking a bit busier and you do make out the shapes of the tiles more so than you would if it was all tonal. Still, a very pretty look which we love.

Style 3: Find a neutral balance

If you are looking for something in between matching and contrasting grout color, try a neutral that is just a few shades off your tile color. For example, in the commercial backsplash below a neutral gray softens the green tile for a look that is eye-catching but not overly graphic and demanding. For a more subtle look, try a neutral tile color with a warm white or grey grout, for a perfectly balanced neutral look.

White Tile with a Brown or Cream Grout

Now, what happens when we pair a white tile with a brown or cream grout? Visually it does look like the tiles are an off white and the grout is a brown color – so it gives you the idea of what it might look like. it is a very specific look which makes it a little less timeless than the other, but when done well it can work and brings a graphic element to space

Golden and silver grout, which can be coordinated with your taps or shower fittings. We love this winning combination of silver and gold.

So, what is your favorite combo? Do you love the monochromatic of the white on white and black on black or do you think you could get behind mixing in some brown grout with your black or white tiles?

Choosing grout color should be guided by your taste and your design. Add in a little of this advice and you’ll be able to choose your grout colors like an expert.

We hope you found this bit of information helpful, inspiring, and motivating toward renovating your kitchen and bathroom. They often cost less than natural materials, which makes them the ideal choice for larger areas or where you have a limited budget. The new styles of oversized tiles are very fashionable and can create a hotel-chic look.

If you’d prefer your flooring to be subtle rather than bold, go for porcelain tiles with a minimal design, without any texture, in a cool color.

Choose neutral grey porcelain tiles with a textured finish for a super-chic room.

For a spacious wet room, use matching ceramic floor and wall tiles.

When it comes to tile flooring, there is no shortage of materials, colors, textures, and designs to choose from. However, not every type of tile is appropriate for every space.

Here are 8 tips to select the best option.

1. Consider Tile Hardness

When browsing different types of floor tiles, one of the most important features to pay attention to is Hardness (the Moh’s scale).

It measures the material’s ability to withstand wear/foot traffic, as well as scratches. The ratings are issued by the Porcelain Enamel Institute and are based on rigorous laboratory testing.

2. Pay Attention To Tile Porosity

Another critical feature not to be missed is porosity. It is determined by the ratio of air holes to solids in a tile, which impacts the amount of water it absorbs. If you are installing tile in a moisture-prone area, such as a bathroom, kitchen, mudroom, laundry room, pay close attention to this rating.

Here are Porosity Classifications:

Impervious: water absorption of 0.5 percent or less. Recommended for use in the kitchen and especially the bathroom.

Vitreous: water absorption of 0.5 percent to 3 percent.

Semi Vitreous: water absorption of 3 – 7 percent.

Non-Vitreous: water absorption of more than 7 percent. This category is not recommended for floor use.

3. Go For Porcelain Tiles – An All-Around Win

If you are looking for a material that has strength, moisture resistance and versatile design, porcelain is the best choice. It is more durable than ceramic and comes in a greater variety of styles, colors and textures. Not all porcelain products are made equal, and you need to check the specs of each one.

Today, thanks to highly advanced technologies, there are countless porcelain tile options that have a higher than average hardness and moisture resistance (these cost more).

4. Ensure Slip Resistance

Most tile materials tend to be slippery, and all the more so, if water is introduced into the equation. If you have children and elderly people in the house, it is very important to install slip resistant tile. The bathroom is a prime place where fall accidents may happen, particularly the shower area, so good slip resistance is highly recommended.

When shopping around for a shower tile floor look for products with a high COF (coefficient of friction).

It is best to install tile sizes that are 4×4 or smaller. Avoid using ones that are bigger than 6×6.

There are a number of options to consider:

1.Ceramic or Porcelain: choose a product that has a special textured surface. Inquire about slip resistant coatings.

2.Slate: this beautiful stone has a naturally slip resistant texture.

3.Small size tile (glass, mosaic, etc): these have more grout lines, making the overall surface more textured and therefore slip resistant. Penny tile rounds are another beautiful design that provides ample traction. They typically come in size 2×2 or smaller. As a result, they would be perfect as shower tiles.

4. Pebble stone: has a highly textured surface and boasts a unique visual aesthetic.

5. Choose Ceramic Wood Tile Instead Of Real Hardwood

If you love the look of hardwood but don’t want to deal with maintenance, consider installing wood ceramic tile. It is highly durable, scratch and moisture resistant.

Best of all, different high-end brands make products that masterfully recreate almost any wood species from domestic to exotic. Even distressed and reclaimed wood grain ceramic tile is available! Check out chic ceramic tile designs from Architectural Ceramics, Porcelanosa, Marazzi USA.

These will look stunning as a kitchen floor tile, particularly in more traditional or rustic spaces. Also, its ideal as a bathroom or a shower floor tile, where a real hardwood would not be recommended.

If you are worried about tile being cold to the touch, you can add under floor heating, and it will feel even more pleasant than real wood!

6. Install Stone Tile For Ultimate Luxury And Quality

If luxury and incredible durability are your top priorities, stone floor tile is second to none. Marble, granite, and travertine can elevate the look of any room of your house. Because no two stones are exactly alike, you get a naturally beautiful floor that will look like no other.

Larger tile sizes, at least 12×12, look particularly impressive and help create a uniform seamless look that is ideal for modern interior designs.

It's important to note that unlike other types of tiles, stone needs to be sealed to maintain the durability and remain resistant to stains. Unsealed stone may remain porous and therefore susceptible to water infiltration. In worst-case scenarios, it may even begin to crumble.

After being initially sealed during the installation process, it will need to be resealed every 5-10 years to maintain optimal looks and quality.

7. Make A Space Appear Larger With Light Floor Tiles

If you have a room that is small and or does not have a lot of natural light, you can improve it by installing light color floor tile. White, sand, beige, cream, etc are all good choices. Marble or ceramic/porcelain would also be a good match for this application.

Larger tiles tend to make a small room appear bigger. You can even install the same material on the walls, which will further enhance the illusion of expanded space. To amplify the affect, and create a seamless flowing surface use a matching grout color. This works particularly well in small or tiny bathrooms.

8. Create A Modern Aesthetic And Custom Designs With Concrete

If you want a very modern, upscale feel in your home, consider concrete tile. It is a highly versatile material that can be used in any room of your house: kitchen, bathroom, living room, etc. Compared to other types of floor tile, concrete’s biggest advantage is that it can be custom made for your particular application.

You can choose the size, color and texture of concrete, request custom cutouts, embeds, special imprinted patterns, as well as three-dimensional sculptural designs. Thus, your design options are virtually endless.

The best part: this unique custom-made flooring is rather affordable. Installation costs range from $6-8 per square foot, which is cheaper than natural stone.

Moreover, concrete is one of the most durable, and long lasting flooring options. It is highly resistant to foot traffic, staining and moisture. Once installed, you will most likely never have to replace it again!

The only major downside to concrete floors is extreme hardness. Some people may find it uncomfortable to touch when walking with bare feet. Also, small children or elderly individuals may get hurt, in case of slipping and falling.

Click here to view our large range of tiles.
urn:store:1:blog:post:38https://betahome.ir/ir/how-to-clean-your-home-to-prevent-the-spread-of-coronavirusHow to clean your home to prevent the spread of coronavirus
How to clean your home to prevent the spread of coronavirus

It's always a good idea to wash your hands thoroughly and avoid close contact with people who have the disease, but there are other things you can do to deep-clean your home.

The coronavirus is transmitted via respiratory droplets, and the CDC says that current evidence suggests it "may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials."

There's already been an increase in demand for cleaning services all around the world, and numerous schools and businesses have closed for deep cleanings.

Here's how the BETAHOME suggests you do a deep-clean.

Clean first, Disinfect later

Cleaning refers to the removal of germs from surfaces. Disinfecting refers to the use of chemicals to kill germs on surfaces. Both can lower the risk of infection spread, but you should clean first, disinfect after.

Don't forget to read the label on your disinfectants. Some need to remain wet for anywhere from two to ten minutes.

Use household cleaners and disinfectants on frequently touched surfaces

Look at tables, doorknobs, light switches and toilets as places to start. Before you disinfect dirty surfaces, clean them with detergent or soap and water.

For disinfection, diluted household bleach solutions, alcohol solutions with at least 70% alcohol, and most common EPA-registered household disinfectants should be effective.

Diluted household bleach solutions can be used if appropriate for the surface. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for application and proper ventilation. Check to ensure the product is not past its expiration date. Never mix household bleach with ammonia or any other cleanser. Unexpired household bleach will be effective against coronaviruses when properly diluted.

Prepare a bleach solution by mixing:

5 tablespoons (1/3rd cup) bleach per gallon of water or

4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water

Wear gloves and make sure you have good ventilation while you clean

Wear disposable gloves and throw them out after you're done using them.

If you're using reusable gloves, don't use them for other purposes, and clean your hands immediately after the gloves are removed. Peel the gloves away from your body, pulling them inside out, and try not to let the outside of the glove touch your skin.
urn:store:1:blog:post:36https://betahome.ir/ir/how-to-clean-tapHow to clean taps
Take a shine to taps and bring an extra gleam to your kitchen and bathroom with these tips on how to clean taps.

Calcium carbonate, known as limescale, can quickly build up on faucets that run hard water. It tends to sneak up on showerheads and kitchen sink taps, leaving hard white deposits around the spray holes and a cloudy film over the rest of the faucet. You can find a variety of spray-on chemical cleaning products that are designed to eliminate limescale. However, with a few household items, you can easily get rid of unsightly limescale buildup naturally, even from hard-to-reach areas. Just be sure not to use acidic cleaners, like lemon juice or vinegar, on metal-plated taps.

Smart cleaning

For everyday polish, try a microfiber cloth and plain water or use a mild cleaning solution. If you're using anything stronger, check the pack instructions and your tap manufacturer's advice and test on an inconspicuous spot first.

Removing Limescale Lemon fresh

Lemon juice can do the work of a bottle of chemicals. Soak cotton wool in lemon juice and drape around the base where limescale collects. Leave to soak for an hour, then scrub with an old toothbrush and rinse. You might need a second application. Vinegar works well, too. Lemon and vinegar are acidic so keep them off stone or marble worktops.

Removing Limescale with Vinegar

The basic idea is to soak the limescale with vinegar to dissolve the buildup. There are various ways to do this, depending on where the buildup is.

Before you begin, note that undiluted vinegar (acetic acid) can also be irritating on the skin, so wear gloves. It is best to start with a 50:50 dilution of vinegar and water (equal parts of each liquid) and test on a small, less visible area first to make sure it does not damage the finish. White vinegar is the most common choice for cleaning.

To begin the cleaning process, soak a paper or cloth towel in diluted vinegar.

In the bathroom, limescale often gathers on taps and showerheads. Sometimes, there might be slight leaks from the mechanism of the tap that water is seeping through. This can easily lead to the buildup of nasty deposits. If this is happening, before applying vinegar, make sure the tap is fully repaired.

Wrap them with the towel or fill a plastic bag with the solution and soak for 1-2 hours.

After soaking, simply rinse the surfaces with soapy water. For heavier buildups, scrubbing may be necessary.

Wipe down the surfaces with built-up limescale using the vinegar-soaked towel.

urn:store:1:blog:post:17https://betahome.ir/ir/how-to-clean-groutHow to clean grout?
How to Clean Tile Floor Grout

Tile floors will not appear completely clean unless the dirty grout is cleaned as well.

Create a paste of baking soda and water.

Scrub it gently into the grout with a toothbrush or grout brush.

Rinse with warm water and allow to air dry.

Try removing small grout stains with a white or pink pencil eraser, like you would erase a mistake on a piece of paper.

For stubborn stains, use a toothbrush or sponge to apply grout cleaner or a solution of three-quarters bleach and one-quarter water to the grout lines and rinse with warm water. Avoid getting the bleach on the tile.

The best way to clean tile floors depends on the type of tile you have and usually only requires the application of warm water and elbow grease. Keeping your tile floors free of dirt and debris can mean that deeper tile floor cleaning will be needed less often.
urn:store:1:blog:post:32https://betahome.ir/ir/how-to-clean-tile-floorsHow to Clean Tile Floors
Tile serves as an attractive and versatile type of flooring for kitchens, bathrooms and other parts of the house. For tile floors to look their best, they should be kept free of dirt and regularly given deep cleans. Learning how to clean tile floors is an easy process that’s not very time-consuming. The key is to match the type of tile with the correct cleaning method.

1. Maintain the Tile Floor

No matter what tile material you have, one of the most important steps to have clean tile floors is weekly maintenance. Perform the following once or twice a week:

Sweep the tile and grout with a soft bristle broom to remove dirt

Vacuum with a brush attachment to remove dust and remaining particles.

You should also thoroughly sweep and vacuum immediately before mopping the tile floor.

Tip: Wipe up spills and wet spots with a cleaning cloth as soon as possible, as wet, grimy dirt becomes more difficult to remove the longer it sits on the tile.

2. How to Clean Ceramic Tile Floors

For best results, wash bathroom tiles once a week and kitchen tiles biweekly.
